Meet the people who make it happen
Robin Evason
Head of Technology
After completing his IT Engineering Diploma in 2001, Robin started his IT career in the Oil and Gas sector, working for 3 years on automating the exchange of business documents, such as payment, customs, and inventory documents, using Electronic Data Interchange (EDI).
He then spent the following 6 years as a full stack web developer for various Digital Agencies where he was heavily involved in the design and development of many products, including web applications and websites from inception through to implementation, before moving into the SaaS Fintech and Compliance sector.
Today Robin’s bread and butter involves using his 'AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate' certification (2017) to keep up with the ever-changing technology and security landscape. As Head: IT & Software at Mettis, he not only works closely with the development team to bring the right mix of technology to Metior Hub but has been involved in its development from day one.
Janine Brink
Business Information Analyst
Jan travelled and lived abroad for a few years before studying Informatics at the University of South Africa (UNISA), an invaluable experience considering she would go on to develop her career as a Business Information Analyst. Apart from 2 years employed at a global technology infrastructure and services provider, she has spent over 35 years as an independent consultant working for corporate and parastatal entities across numerous industries, including defence, logistics, revenue services, security, real estate, and financial services.
Using tools, such as Erwin for information modelling, and methodologies for strategic facilitation, she has been responsible for the delivery of strategic plans, through to logical data models and requirements specifications.
She has been involved in developing Metior Hub from the beginning and joined Mettis as the 'link' between business and technology, focusing on business process and management information to ensure the Metior Hub modules deliver exactly what its clients require.
Pierre van Zyl
Customer Engagement & Operations
In 1989 Pierre completed a BA degree, majoring in Environmental & Geographical Science that included an introduction to programming and computer networking. This led to the next 15 years being spent in the ICT Business Applications (Enterprise Resource Planning, Business Intelligence, CRM, telecommunications, contact centres) sector, developing a business and technical background that included Business Development, Sales and Business Analysis disciplines. During this time, he worked for various companies, from a software developer specialising in manufacturing data-collection systems, to listed technology providers delivering turnkey infrastructure and business applications solutions and did further courses in Production and Inventory Management and Business Analysis.
The next 6 years were spent as Head: Customer Relationship Management for a Business Process Outsource provider servicing accounts across Europe, America and Africa, responsible for identifying, initiating and managing continuous process and business improvement initiatives to streamline operational efficiencies, develop client accounts, increase revenue and improve the customer experience.
He then joined the Mettis team, responsible for the operations of our development team and the overall client experience, where his attention to detail and experience is used to help analyse and deliver on our clients’ requirements.
Andrew Young
Managing Director
Andrew holds BA LLB and B Comm (Hrs) degrees and in his past life, has been involved in a number of corporate transactions including IPOs, corporate fund raising, valuations and the sale of businesses.
All of this led to Andrew establishing his own investment vehicle out of which Mettis was born. As an investor, Andrew has always managed the financial management of all investments.
Andrew’s core interest at Mettis is to develop solutions that “make things better”, with the inevitable disruption that follows, but with a focus on the integration of technology and people. He believes that clients of technology solutions still want to talk to real people and that Mettis must be known as a business that has at its heart the building of relationships. This is perhaps why Mettis develops solutions, such as Metior Hub, that are focussed on its client DNA.
